Malaika Latty is a painter from Los Angeles. She received her BFA from California College of the Arts and her MFA from Massachusetts College of Art, with additional studies at L’école des Beaux Arts in Paris. Her work is held in private collections throughout the US and in Paris, France. Latty bridges the phenomenon of the world with the metaphysical. In the series Multiple Horizons, she paints multiple suns to illuminate the invisible rhythm of our planet revolving through dark and light. She employs layers of overlapping color, shifting horizons and reflections to depict the passage of time. Her series called Rainbow Portals and Overlapping Rainbows are more than studies of light; they are thresholds designed to shift our vision, allowing us to perceive the intangible daily miracles of our planet steadily revolving through space.
