Opaque watercolor and collage on mounted paper on wood

Artist: Camille Stora (FR)

Camille Stora lives and works in Paris. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Nice Villa Arson and a Master's degree in Fine Arts from Lyon. Her practice is a daily pursuit, as are her chosen subjects. For Camille, the most important aspect is the repetition of the gesture—the act of making—allowing her to develop a distinctive style and a cohesive collection of works. Certain symbols and elements recur throughout her art, traveling from piece to piece. Sometimes, the source image fades away in favor of a more free, abstract creation that explores the fundamental questions of painting: shapes and colors. She doesn't see a strict boundary between figuration and abstraction; instead, she adapts her approach depending on the moment. What unites her work is more about developing a personal style and working within specific constraints—her formats never exceed 20x15 cm and are always mounted on wood. This choice elevates her works to the status of painting objects or icons, regardless of the technique used.
