Candy Bassas paints from the inside of the body where memory, desire and vulnerability move slowly, like breath in the dark. Her figures appear submerged, kneeling, dissolving, listening. Bodies merge with water, night landscapes, plants, mythic animals not as symbols, but as emotional states. Her practice moves between painting, printmaking, writing and music, carrying a rhythm that feels closer to a song than an image. Silence, repetition and uncertainty are not gaps they are where meaning begins. * (1992, Barcelona) She lives and works in Berlin since 2019. Graduated in Illustration and Costume Design 2016 in Barcelona. Currently a student of fine arts in the class of David Schutter at the Berlin University of the Arts. Main disciplines are painting, printmaking and music performance.  Publication of “Landscape of my Youth” at Spunpress in 2021, London. She was granted the Dorothea Konwiarz’s 2023/24 and Musicboard Scholarships 25'. Since 2023, she exibited in Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin and Rome. At the moment, she is experimenting with new work for upcoming shows in Berlin, Madrid and Detmond and playing concerts around Europe and Japan with her musical project Pretty Average.
