Natacha Martins (b. 1997, Portugal) uses painting and painting environments to explore the concept of desire and sentience in the human condition. Her work draws acute observations upon the flesh within the technological contemporary scope. Through oil painting, Natacha’s work gives expression to an investigation into timeless forms of pathos and themes of the human condition. Natacha holds a Bachelor’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto (2019). She has received awards and nominations, including the 17th D. Fernando II Prize from the Sintra Municipal Museum (2021) and the distinction of Artist Representing Portugal at the Jeune Création Européenne Biennale d'Art Contemporain (Museum Amadeo de Souza Cardoso, 2019–2021). She was awarded a grant by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (2020) and a "Denkzeit" Stipendium by the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen (Germany) (2020). Since 2019, she has exhibited nationally and internationally, with her work included in both private and public collections.
