My pictorial world moves between figuration and abstraction. I am interested in  creating a visual space that is beyond the rational and harmonious worlds and  conveys a mysterious, unsettling mood. The experimental nature of this work reflects spiritual and mythological interests, including pagan rituals and Shamanism. The figures I paint often turn their backs on the viewers, thereby marking  the boundary between interior and exterior worlds and at the same time give a  nod to painters like Caspar David Friedrich or Edvard Munch. On closer inspection the depicted figures appear distorted or unfocussed, which underlines that  these figurative motifs also contain remnants of abstraction.
