Originally from Mexico City and based in Amsterdam, Maria creates depictions of the fragility of memory and the body.  Like a landscape shaped by layers of earth, eroded over time and given new shape; where figures emerge or are buried by the shifting layers; her work explores the fragile state of memory - it’s susceptibility to decay, and the layering of impressions and time, and continually coalesce into an uncertain whole, a delicate identity, something new for a while.
