Haonan Yuan(b. 2002) is currently studying painting at the Royal College of Art and is also the recipient of the ALI H. ALKAZZI Scholarship. In his work, painting moves beyond mere visual representation and becomes a site of spiritual exchange between humans and the natural world.    The interplay of form, rhythm, and spatial relationships suggests a condition of mutual permeability and interdependence among living beings, prompting reflection on ecological balance and the human condition.    Influenced by Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenological philosophy, I focus on the relationship between bodily experience, perception, and the world, while developing my own critical thinking through painterly practice.    His work responds to lived experiences of nature while simultaneously reflecting on and reconfiguring the contemporary estrangement between humans and the natural environment.
